Selling Misty

Welcome to potential buyers of our sailboat, Misty Sea! This page provides a description of the boat including some videos and photos, and explains why and how we would like to sell the boat.

About us

We are Louis and Sara, Misty Sea’s third owners. We bought the boat in 2020 in Croatia, with the purpose of sailing around Europe. Due to Covid-19, our plans were postponed by two years, during which Misty Sea was in a dry berth in Croatia.

This year, with Covid-19 restrictions being mostly lifted, we’re finally able to do our well-awaited sail trip and have been sailing for a few months already! Misty Sea has met all our expectations on the trip as it provides for a very comfortable home with some great sailing performances! If you’re interested, you can read more about our adventures in the other parts of this blog.

Being still quite young, we unfortunately knew when buying the boat that we wouldn’t be able to keep it after our big trip. Hence, we are now looking for a buyer who would like to live his own adventures on Misty Sea 🙂

Our trip will end in September 2022 in what we call “Northern Europe” (somewhere along the Belgian, Dutch, German or Danish coast), which is where we’d like to sell the boat. Since we are currently traveling on the boat, we are quite flexible as to where exactly we could meet for visits and selling the boat – as long as it’s more or less along our planed path:

About the boat

Misty Sea is a Bavaria 350 Sportline built in 1992. It is 11m long, has a beam of 3.6m and a draught of 1.65m.

The boat is well suited for long-time living and navigating long distances as it has a great autonomy. Indeed, it can hold 450L of water and 200L of fuel, and has solar panels allowing for an absolute independence in terms of electricity.

In terms of navigation, it is fully equipped with a mainsail, a genoa including its furling system, and a spinnaker. We also have a backup main sail and a backup Genoa onboard! Two Raymarine plotters connected to a radar system allow for a convenient surveillance of the boat and its surroundings, especially at night. For the annoying moments without wind, the boat has a Volvo Penta engine (20.5kW, 28HP). For safety, the boat is equipped with all the standard and compulsory safety equipment.

Its interior has the following configuration: at the front, there is a very spacious and comfortable cabin with an adjacent walking closet. At the back, there is a second cabin on one side and a bathroom on the other side. In the central part of the boat’s interior, there is a foldable table surrounded by sofas, a navigation area, and a kitchen. In total, up to 7 people can sleep on the boat (4 in cabins and 3 in the living room area).

For additional comfort, the boat has a Diesel-powered heating system as well as a hot-water boiler.

For reliable anchoring, Misty Sea has two anchors, respectively arranged at the front and back of the boat. On the outside of the boat, there’s a foldable table for eating outside at anchorages. At the stern of the boat, there is an outdoor shower which is very convenient after going for a swim in the sea!

Further, the boat has a bow bimini and a setup for a spray hood for rain and sun protection. A walkway is provided at the back of the boat, which is most useful in harbours, in particular when mooring in the standard Mediterranean way, with the stern to deck.

Misty Sea currently navigates under the German flag but it’s fairly easy to change that. Further, VAT is paid 🙂

Expertise

Because we cared so much about having a boat we could rely on, we had an expert reviewing the boat before buying it in 2020. The expertise turned our very positive, which confirmed us in our choice of buying Misty Sea. You can see the expert’s report here:

We’ve prepared a video with a lot more information on the boat:
